Welcome to the 2021 – 2022 
International Languages Credit Program!

 

Credit Courses for all Grades at All Levels 

 

9:00 am – 12:30 pm every Saturday

September 11, 2021 to June 11, 2022
 
PLEASE NOTE: We are currently offering in-person classes at the school sites in September, however, this is subject to change based on guidelines from Ottawa Public Health. We will keep you up-to-date on this website.

 

This program will:
  • prepare you for post-secondary studies and careers in business, trade and communications
  • foster global awareness and understanding
  • enable enriched International Student Exchanges

  • develop training skills for international/global employment opportunities.
Students’ Eligibility for the IL Credit Program:
 
Grade 9-12 students in the 2021-2022 school year, and adults with or without prior linguistic and cultural background, who reside in the Ottawa area.

All IL credit courses follow the Ontario Curriculum Grades 9 to 12, Classical Studies and International Languages (revised 2016) and are accepted as credits towards a high school diploma. Current graduation requirements recognize at least one credit in a third language.

Eligibility and Prerequisites:

There are three levels of credit language courses:

 
Level 1: Academic (BD) or Open (BO)

Level 2: University (CU) or Open (CO)

Level 3: University (DU) or Open (DO)
  • High school students (grades 9 to 12) and adults are eligible to take the language credit courses.
  • Adult students must meet the same requirements as high school students with regards to attendance and completion of assignments. 
  • CU and DU level courses have prerequisites (BD and CU respectively) 
  • CO and DO level courses have prerequisites (BO and CO respectively)

As per the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines, the following supporting documents MUST be reviewed by the Continuing Education Department prior to registration into the program. After you submit the registration form, we will assess what documents will be required and inform you by email. 
 
1) Proof of Address: 
(e.g., Current Property Tax Bill; Current Utility Bill; Home Phone/Cable/Internet Bill. Please note, Driver’s License is not acceptable)


2) Proof of Citizenship and Status in Canada:

    • Canadian Citizen (Birth Certificate, Passport, Baptismal Certificate)
    • Permanent Resident (Permanent Resident Card, Stage One Approval letter, Equivalent Documentation from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirming approval in principle)
    • Refugee Status: Documentation from IRCC confirming status, Consideration of eligibility (Convention refugee)
    • Diplomat Status / Minister’s Permit
    • Student Visa (Study Permit)
    • Visitor Visa (Visitor Record)

The Ottawa Catholic School Board reserves the right to cancel any program due to lack of registration.
